Comfort Classics: Beef Lasagne

A rich, hearty high protein beef lasagne that the whole family will love. This version keeps everything you want from a traditional lasagne - slow simmered beef, creamy béchamel and golden melted cheese - but with a few lighter swaps to keep the macros balanced and the protein high. Perfect for busy weeknights when you want something satisfying on the table without cooking multiple meals. Each portion packs 48g of protein, loads of hidden veg and proper comfort food flavour.

I don’t have fresh lasagne sheets so would you recommend I pre boil them first or leave the lasagne to cook for longer?

You can use dried lasagne sheets almost exactly the same way, they just need a bit more moisture and a slightly longer bake. For this recipe: Use the dried sheets uncooked (don’t boil them first unless the packet specifically says to). * Make sure your meat sauce and béchamel are fairly loose/saucy - dried pasta absorbs liquid while baking. Assemble the layers exactly as written. Cover the dish with foil for the first 25-30 minutes so the pasta steams and softens. Then uncover for the last 10-15 minutes to brown the cheese. So instead of: 25 minutes uncovered Do: 25-30 mins covered at 180°C/160°C fan, then 10-15 mins uncovered You can also add: a splash of water or milk around the edges before baking if the sauce looks thick. Check by sliding a knife through the middle -the sheets should feel soft with no crunch. Xx

This was lovely and the first time I've ever made a lasagne completely from scratch including the white sauce! So easy to make and went down very well with a 2, 10 and 12 year old!

Yes, yes, yes! I love this! ❤️🙌 it’s not so daunting once you’ve made it for the first time. I find the fresh egg lasagne sheets much easier to work with and I feel that’s half the battle with a lasagne. Hopefully a new family fav! ❤️🙌 xx
